Things I Would Have Never Allowed...

ten years ago.

When Dallin and Cameron were little, I'm sure I never would have allowed the cat (if we had one) to play with their toys. Although it's cute that he fell asleep with the ponies after he played with them.

I never would have allowed them to eat their lunch on the couch...

while playing on the ipad. Oh wait, we didn't have an ipad ten years ago. Evelyn's world is so much different than her older siblings. She can navigate the ipad (and my phone) better than I can. She prefers to watch shows (that she picks herself) on Netflix than on the tv. It's a brave new world and sometimes it's scary to know what's ok and what's not.

This Is A First

This is how we spent our Super Bowl Sunday on February 3. It might have more to do with the fact that I was still recovering from surgery and Ryan wanted to spend some quality time with the kids but I do think it's funny how things ended up (with the boys doing the puzzle and the girls watching the football game).

U of U Gymnastics

On February 1, 2013 Eden and I went to our first U of U Women's Gymnastics meet with her friend Halley and her mom Tiffany. Eden has been dying to go to a real gymnastics competition and with the Pass of All Passes you can get free general admission seats.

We were a little late because we went out to eat and ran into traffic on the way to the meet. I was amazed at how many people were there that night. It was almost completely sold out. By the time we found parking we were only able to watch the last two events, floor and balance beam, but it was really cool. Eden and I both had a lot of fun (despite the fact that I had surgery on a hernia two days before and was still feeling some pain).

Regional Reflections Competition

Cameron's Reflections entry in musical composition won at Region this year and moved on to State. The awards ceremony was held on January 30th. We are so proud of how well Cameron did this year.

Unfortunately she didn't win at State but I am so impressed with all of her hard work to get as far as she did!

My Monkeys

For Jane's third birthday Breanne invited some of the cousins to come jump around at Kangaroo Zoo on January 26th. I think Evelyn found her new home.

It's Too Cold Outside

It's funny that Evelyn sang, "Too coldy outside, for angels to fly" all winter because this was a brutally cold winter. We hovered around 0 degrees for longer than I appreciated. There were many nights where we snuggled up on the couches with warm blankets and warm company.

Here are a few quotes from Facebook that I posted in January:

January 16
I can't believe I'm happy that it's 16 degrees outside. It seriously feels warmer.

January 17
I got a new PR (personal record) today. I ran 3 miles this morning in 3 degrees. It actually wasn't too bad, except for the wind.

(To further explain, I wore a scarf around my face in addition to all my warm running clothes. I've never had to do that before. And the only reason I went running was because my weather app on my phone said it would be 15 degrees. But because of the terrible inversion we were having it ended up only being 3.)

New Toys

Evelyn loves the new toys she got for her birthday! Especially because she has enough older brothers and sisters at her beck and call to build her things with those new toys. Eden and Austin had a lot of fun making this castle for her pony train and a chair for Elmo! By the way, Evelyn loves to sing "La, la, la, la Elmo's world!" She also loves to sing, "It's too cold outside, for angels to fly". That one sounds more like, "too coldy outside, no angels fly". But man, she's too cute.
