Cameron's Class Program

Cameron's Program was on May 26th.

Her grade learned to play the Recorder this year.

Cameron's a great student and always does her best with every assignment.

This little group of girls is wonderful. They are all super motivated and hard working. They've been fortunate to be in the same class for the past few years and as mothers we hope to keep it that way as long as possible. They remind me of my best friends growing up. We worked really well together and always did a great job on group assignments. Good friends can really make a difference.

Cameron really liked her teacher Mrs. Mitchell.

Austin's Preschool Party

So Austin didn't have a preschool program but he did have a party to end the year, on May 25th. There were some great treats and I may have gotten an idea or two for a future birthday present for this little man.

We had a really good group of kids this year and I enjoyed having the opportunity to teach every five weeks. I have to admit, though, I'll be just as happy to have Austin go to a formal preschool next fall and have Eden in kindergarten. Just a little less to think about and a little bit more of a break.

Dallin's Class Program

It's the end of the year and it seems everyone's got a program, from preschool to elementary school. It's keeping us busy. Dallin's class program was on May 24th. I can't believe they still sing Fifty Nifty United States. I sang that in elementary school. I guess it didn't make it across the country, though, because Ryan said he'd never heard it before.

Dallin had a great year this year. He does well in all his subjects and is a good friend and helper.

His teacher Mrs. Hughes was great too.

Dallin's Track Meet

Dallin participated in the Hershey Track Meet on May 20th. Running is not one of his favorite things. He actually asked if he could stay home from school that day. I told him no. So I was really proud of him for giving it his all and doing his best despite the fact that he hated it.

Eden's Preschool Graduation

Eden had her big preschool program and graduation on May 19th. They sang a lot of songs..

even some in sign language...

and had their own parts to memorize.

My little girl is growing up. Although she is actually one of the tallest in her class, but you know what I mean. She is so excited to go to kindergarten next year, and I'm excited too.

Hopefully she'll have some familiar friends, like Maddy, in her class next year.

Miss Allison does a great job teaching preschool. Eden learned so much this year and had a lot of fun!

Spring Piano Recital

On May 17th Dallin and Cameron had their spring piano recital. I'm really impressed with how well they play. They even had their songs memorized!

I Love You the Yellowest

For Mother's Day Dallin wrote me this poem (yellow happens to be my favorite color):

I love you, Mom, the yellowest.

I love you the color of sun, as it rises cheerfully on
a summer morning. I love you the color of gold
fish as they dart around happily in a pond. I love
you the color of daffodils, in full bloom, swaying
calmly in the breeze.

I love you the color of laughter around a campfire.
I love you the color of joyful, buzzing bees in the
meadow. I love you the color of sweet, ripe
lemons on a lemon tree.

I love you the color of the wind as it blows with
you on a bike.
I love you the color of ripe, juicy apples ready to
be picked.
I love you the color of excited, springy fireflies on
a warm summer night.

I love you, Mom, the yellowest.

(Yes, it made me cry.)

Baseball Dreams (or Nightmares)

A few weeks ago Austin says to me, "so mom you know when we go to a baseball game..." (already I'm thinking that we've never been to a baseball game) "... well, I want to be the guy that HITS the ball." (Ohhhhh.) So I ask Austin if he wants to play baseball and he says, "YEAH!" Instantly I picture sitting on an aluminum metal bleacher at 5:00 at night when it's 105 degrees outside, all summer long, for the next ten years of my life. Ugh. That was one sport I've tried so hard to avoid. At least I've got another year before he's old enough for t-ball.

Cameron's New Room

Every so often I check KSL's classifieds for good deals. Lately I've been looking for bedroom furniture for Cameron. A few weeks ago I found an add for a cute little girl twin set that a mom had been saving for the future daughter it turned out she never had. It had been her bedroom set when she was little but with four sons she thought it was time to move on. I looked at her name and location and thought, "I know a lady with that name... that lives around here... with four boys." It turns out it was a good friend of mine. It was fun to call her and tell her I wanted the furniture she was selling online.

Ryan and I went and picked it up a few Saturdays ago. How often do you have someone offer you less than they were originally asking? I was thrilled and as soon as we got home Cameron and I headed to Home Depot to buy new knobs and paint. Who knew knobs were so expensive. And who knew it was going to be soooo much work to paint the darn things! I primed it twice, did three coats of white, one coat of faux glaze, and then trim around the drawers (don't look too closely at that ). We finally moved it into Cameron's room a week after we got it but I think it turned out really nice.

Hershey Track Meet

Cameron had her Hershey Track Meet on May 6th. Fortunately we had good weather.

I missed her 100 meter race but was in time for her 200 meter.

She won her heat.

Then I stayed for her relay. She was really nervous about dropping the baton.

But she passed it off without a hitch. Her team took second. I was really proud of how hard she tried and how well she did. She really likes running. I wonder why?

Mission Reunion

On April 28th I got to have dinner with some of the wonderful sisters from my mission. I love it when we get together and this night was no exception. It was especially great to see Deena. We actually haven't seen each other since we were companions but she was in town for Women's Conference. It was great to catch up and talk about some of the amazing experiences we shared while in Russia.
