It Made My Day

I had a nice time with my mom today.  I took her to a doctor appointment and then home to pick up the kids.  Since the kids were happily playing with friends still we went out to lunch and then picked up some Amano chocolate on the way home.  As I was walking out after taking her home she said, "You know from the back you don't even look pregnant."

I don't think I've ever had a nicer compliment in my whole life!

Trick or Treat!

On Saturday Ryan took the kids trick-or-treating.  It had been raining all day so they went around 5 pm when there was a break in the clouds.  As I was getting dinner ready I heard this strange hushing sound outside.  I stopped to listen carefully and all of the sudden there was a large boom of thunder and then it started hailing, sideways!   I thought, "Oh No!  My kids are out in that!"  As I was trying to think where I should drive to pick them up Ryan called and said they had ducked into a  neighbors house where they were waiting for me to come get them.  I picked up my slightly soaked family and fed them a nice warm dinner.  Then, since the rain stopped, they went out again!  When they were done they came knocking on my door.  So cute!

Then Ryan drove them to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a little more candy collecting.

We didn't get nearly as many trick-or-treaters as we have in the past.  By the end of the night I still had a full bowl of candy.  I filled three Ziploc bags the next day and set it in my pantry.  But then I realized that since the  kids had their own bags of candy those three extra bags were going to taunt only one person.  Me!  So the next day I took all three bags to the school with me and donated them.  The last thing I need with two months to go in my pregnancy is to put on all the extra weight I've been carefully avoiding for the last seven months!

A Monster Birthday Party

On Friday October 29th we had Eden's Birthday Party with twelve of her friends!  She really wanted to have a "monster" party.  So we made a monster cake...

And played pin the face on the monster...

And toss the ball into the scary pumpkins...

And we made monster mini pizza's...

And had monster eyes, and monster toes.

It was a lot of fun!

Eden was so happy that almost all of her friends were able to come!

She got some great gifts that everyone enjoyed playing with.  Even the boys!

Dallin and Cameron were my Superstar helpers of the day!  They conducted all the games and then took everyone outside towards the end of the party to play Red Rover.

School Halloween Parade and Kindergarten Carnival

 Cameron the Scarecrow

Where's Eden?

There she is.  It was a little windy for the school Halloween parade.

Dallin was a target.  I guess we missed the bullseye.

I got to help out with Eden's kindergarten carnival.  There were 125 kids in the auditorium!  It was nice that I was able to stay in my little corner and manage my own line of kids.  We played an Eyeball Toss game.  I had the kids toss a ping pong ball with an eyeball painted on it into one of the jars.  It was amazing how few made it in the jar.  This is why we never play carnival games at the fair.  But they did have a lot of fun.

Austin didn't get to be in the parade but he was Woody riding Bullseye for Halloween.  It was cute to see all the toddlers with their moms at the school shout, "Look Mom it's Bullseye!"  Thanks Toy Story 3.

I wasn't home much on Sunday the 24th so Ryan took care of pumpkin carving with the kids.  They had a lot of fun and most of them followed Austin's example and carved their own.

Eden's pumpkin is missing a tooth.  Was she trying a self portrait?

We kept the pumpkins inside until Halloween since we had lost one earlier to someone throwing it in the street.  We didn't want all the kids' hard work to go to waste and I think we all enjoyed having them as part of our family for a week.

Austin Carves A Pumpkin

On Saturday the 23rd we told Austin he could carve the pumpkin he picked from the patch.  Usually with four year olds this means we cut and they watch.  But Austin had his own plans.  As you can see he knew exactly what he was doing and he did it all by himself!
