Little Life Lessons, According To Austin

... Austin went to the dentist last week and had two cavities filled.

New Toys

It's hard to justify buying brand new toys for your last baby but unfortunately I gave away all of our baby toys a few years ago.  I really miss the little bridge toy I had for newborns to play under so I gave in and bought a new one for Evelyn.

It was so cute to see Evelyn talk and smile with Cameron the other day while her hands swatted absently at the different toys.  This picture is a little fuzzy but it's hard to get her to talk and hold still at the same time.

President's Day

For President's Day we took the kids to the Lehi Pool.  This is almost becoming a tradition.  By the middle of February it's the perfect thing to pretend it's not snowing outside and that summer isn't still months away.

Ryan played around with the kids while Evelyn took a nap on my lap.

At least for a little while...

My kids are all fish but they had to admit that Austin swam circles around everyone today.  Ryan said he spent more time under the water than above it.

After swimming we took the kids to Olive Garden for dinner and then hurried home for our turn to clean the church.  I went home with the baby to try to get the laundry done before school on Tuesday.  It wasn't the most exciting holiday but we got to spend time together as a family and that's my favorite way to spend the day.

Snugglers

The girls really love snuggling with their little sister.  The cat just loves Cameron.

Annie Take 2

I got to go see Cameron perform on Friday while Grandma Smith watched Evelyn.  It was such a cute performance and all the kids did such a good job.  I was really proud of Cameron who was so animated and enthusiastic despite still suffering from a fever and no voice.

A lot of our family and friends were able to come see the performance Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  We really appreciate all of their support.

What Do You Do When Half Your Kids Are Sick?

answer... make cookies.

Cameron stayed home from school most of the week last week.  I was surprised and worried when she could barely get out of bed Friday morning but decided to just let her stay home and rest so she could get through the rest of her performances.  Then Austin woke up with a fever and I realized it was going to be a sick day.  I made quesadillas for lunch that stunk up the house and decided it was the perfect day to make yummy smelling cookies.  Just what the doctor ordered right?

While I made the cookies Eden and Austin filled out their valentines.

Austin was fading fast, though.  He crept downstairs to put this jacket on over his pj's because he was freezing (feverish).  Then he slumped over my computer and played games for a little bit.  But even that didn't last long.

Next thing I knew I had three kids asleep in the living room.

Austin told me he was going to take a nap on the couch and then he actually did.  That's when you know your little wild child is really sick.  Poor thing.  Just to clarify, though, little Evelyn is not sick.  So far so good.  She just sleeps a lot.

Annie

Last week was Cameron's performance in Annie for the community children's theater.  She was one of the orphans.  Ryan took Dallin, Eden, and Austin on Thursday night and took these pictures.

Poor Cameron got sick on Wednesday and woke up Thursday morning with no voice.  I told her to lip sync the songs and then use everything she had to belt out her one line.  Ryan said he heard her perfectly.

100 Day

Thursday February 10th was the 100th day of school.  Eden was asked to decorate a shirt with 100 things for her kindergarten class.  We decided to do 100 kisses.  Grandma Smith, Cameron, Eden, and I all contributed kisses.

Are You Happy?

I have proof that Evelyn is smiling and talking...

Dallin talked to her for about half an hour tonight.  I hope you waited until the end to here her answer when Dallin asked her if she was happy.  It was so cute.  Here's a little more cuteness...

Ryan asked why Evelyn was talking to Dallin and not to him?  I asked him if he knew any girl that could resist talking to Dallin?

One Month

Baby Eve was one month old on Sunday.  We celebrated by watching the Super Bowl and having Grandma Bobbi and Aunt Breanne over.  As soon as Evelyn saw Grandma she started smiling and cooing.  It was crazy because she hasn't even done that for us yet.  Grandma was super excited and I kept trying to get a picture of it but those expressions are always more elusive when you have a camera in your hand.

Science Fair 2011

We were so lucky.  We got to do two science fair projects in our home this year!  Dallin tested different storage environments to see which one made popcorn pop better.  Answer:  the freezer.  Cameron tested people's sensitivities to smell.  Thank you Barney cousins for your help with that one.

Baby Fashion Show

As you might expect I don't get out much these days.  So I thought I would post some pictures.

Last fall after we found out we were going to have a girl I took Eden shopping to buy the baby some clothes.  Here are some of the cute outfits she picked out.

This was Eden's all time favorite outfit she found for her little sister.  She was so excited that it fits already (it's three month size and Evelyn's three weeks).  She's even wearing matching pink socks with little kitten faces on them.  Eden was giggling the whole time Ryan was getting the baby dressed.

Evelyn isn't always thrilled to have her picture taken.  Mostly because she prefers to be held.  In fact I'm typing with one hand right now while she sleeps in the other.  I'm actually getting pretty fast too.

Eden's pretty good at holding her sister too which is a huge help for me.
