Uncle Scott's Wedding

Scott and Jenn were married on June 11th in the Bountiful Temple. It was a full day of festivities with a luncheon at the Golden Corral and the reception at a Stake Center near the temple. Everyone was color coordinated in pink and orange.

All of Ryan's siblings living out of state came to town for the wedding. This is a picture of all the girl cousins on our side of the family with their new Aunt Jenn.

And here are the boys with Uncle Scott.

Baby #6

It's a ....

we don't know. This was just a 9 week ultrasound to make sure everything was looking good. We won't know if it's a boy or a girl until school starts again. But for me this ultrasound, on June 10th, was a huge relief. The guy said that everything looks great. The baby is the right size for my due date so no changes there and her heartbeat looks good. (I say "her" so I don't have to say "it"). We got to see little arm nubs (right where the arrow is pointing) and leg nubs. And we even got to see her move around a little. It was such a comfort.

On our way out Ryan says, "good thing our heads don't stay half the size of our bodies". I pictured that for a minute and then laughed for the rest of the day.

The Cat Caught A Mouse...

kind of. I went in my room and found the cat sleeping with this toy mouse. The tail has been chewed off and one of the eyes is missing but I think that's because it's Peter's favorite toy. The up side is that since we've had the cat I haven't seen any more mice.

Shadow Mountain

At the beginning of June Dallin attended Shadow Mountain, a camp for boys in 5th grade. He was able to sign up with a few of his school buddies but he also made a few more friends once he got there. At first I was hesitant to send him, he is my baby you know, firstborn male and all that. Just kidding. I had all the typical fears a mother has when sending her little boy away for three days. But my fears were unfounded. He had such a good time.

They hiked, panned for gold, played games, and did some leather printing, archery, and map and compass "stuff". The camp counselors told funny stories every night and had strict rules about lights out and when to wake up (like you couldn't get out of bed before 7:30). That was probably hard for Dallin who's used to getting up at 6:45 for swim practice. He came home dirty and happy. He didn't even miss me! I guess my baby is growing up. I know experiences like this are good for him and will make it easier when he eventually has to leave for a mission. But is there a camp to prepare Mom's for when their children leave?

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day we went for a little family bike ride then got cleaned up and headed to the cemetery to put flowers on Lilian's grave. It was a gorgeous day and the kids enjoyed walking around and looking at all the flowers.

That afternoon my family came over for a BBQ. It was good to see Uncle Doug, who recently had major surgery. To be honest, I was shocked at how grey his cheeks and lips still were and to see how much weight he had lost. He had the surgery over a month ago but still looked weak. It breaks my heart to think of what he's gone through but I think the surgery was very successful and I'm so happy to know he's still here with his family. My kids still pray for him everyday. They love their Uncle Doug; his hugs, his teasing, and his amazing stories. I know they want to see him back to his old self, cancer and pain free.

The Grotto

Up Payson canyon there is a hike called the Grotto. It's really short and easy, perfect for kids, and leads to this amazing waterfall (at least in the spring). Ryan took the kids on May 29th.

They worked their way to the top for another amazing view.

Eden's friend Hayden came along, too.

The trail switches back and forth over the river. The kids loved climbing over the makeshift log-bridges.

1-11-11

For now, that's my due date. What are the chances that's really going to happen? As far as how I'm feeling... not good. But I think I'm having a harder time dealing with losing all that I've worked so hard for over the past year than being sick and tired. I was supposed to do a triathlon last Saturday but instead spent most of the day in bed. I was so depressed that my strong healthy body has, in a mere few weeks, reverted back to sick, weak, and tired all the time. And my nice flat stomach has rebelled. I tried to go through the maternity clothes to find something to wear but just looking at them makes me sick. I'm trying to feed off of my family's excitement. The kids have debates over whether it will be a boy or a girl and Eden's ready to go shopping now for clothes for the baby (since I gave everything I had away). They're all talking about baby names too. I'm glad they're all excited, maybe one of these days I will be too.

A Secret

Here's part of an email I got from my mother-in-law...

Your children were so precious today! They could hardly contain themselves but they did for a couple of hours! Then it all spilled out. First, as soon as they came in the door and started playing with the blocks in the window, they said they had a secret and could not tell it. I guessed immediately. I asked if the secret would come out later and they said yes, but they could not tell. I said, well that is not fair to tell me you have a secret and then not tell it. But the subject was changed and they did not spill the beans. Then after playing with puzzles and going to all four parks in the neighborhood, we stopped in the kitchen to have a snack of popsicles. When they were almost through eating they remembered that they had a secret they could not tell. Eden said, " When mommy's tummy gets big everyone will know." Then Austin said," Mommy's going to have a baby! Oops, I told!" and he covered his mouth and ducked his head. Then they both said very adamantly, "Don't tell Mommy we told you!"

School's Out For Summer

The last day of school was May 27th, ... let the festivities begin.

Austin wasn't so much of a fan of getting wet as he was of controlling the water. Sounds like an issue I can relate to.

While Cameron went to a late night movie party Ryan took the rest of the kids down the road to explore. They actually found a treehouse. Of course the boys had to climb the tree. I think Eden was a little to glam for that.
