Gilroy Family Reunion - Day 2

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary

We've already taken this tour as a family but it was fun to go again with the cousins. We got up pretty early to make the hour drive but it was worth it.

Zions National Park

From the Sanctuary we headed to Zions National Park. Not all of our group made it on the tour but I thought it was funny that we caught up with almost everyone on our drive to Zions. When we finally made it to the park we headed straight for this mossy overhang where water drips down all year long. It was a hot day but it only took a few minutes for the kids to get soaked.

I'm not sure if Adam appreciated this wet t-shirt hug.

Next we took the tour to the end of the park and headed up the trail for the Narrows. We didn't make it far, though, before we saw a nice spot next to the river. The kids just hadn't gotten wet enough.
As some of us adults reclined on this log a very daring squirrel came up to sniff out the contents of my fanny pack. Yes, there were actually nuts in there. This squirrel was the one that was really nuts. We threw rocks, yelled, and even kicked it's tail and it hardly flinched. No wonder it was so fat. People must just give in and feed it all the time. We didn't, though, and it finally got the hint.

Grandpa took us out to dinner at a great place in Springdale and then we headed back to the cool mountains of Duck Creek Village. I don't think it ever got over 80 degrees the whole time we were there.

Just got back from volunteering at "Best Friends." We spent the day walking the dogs and taking them for "Outings" into town. It was so much fun. I cried when we left. I wanted to bring them all home. I'll post pics soon.
